Dear colleagues
I am trying to collate evidence about the use of student evaluation of modules to feed into judgements about teaching quality of individual staff.
I know this is area to treated with some caution and that evidence will be most useful to temper the enthusiasm of senior managers in this regard.
Somehow I won't be proposing that students are coerced into giving that feedback!
I do have quite a lot already but not enough about:
1. The most valid and reliable methods of collecting evaluation for this purpose (and the dangers of 'blunt' surveys)
2. The effect of the attractiveness of the subject matter taught (e.g. teaching stats as service teaching or research methods etc etc)
Please email directly with sources or good article suggestions and I will collate and share outcomes with the list
