Caleb, thanks for the concern and good advice.
I am an experienced fire fighter and know local conditions. What worries
me is late spring heatwave conditions when vegetation hasn't begun to
hibernate over summer. There can be a build up of oil vapours which
explode and the sky itself is on fire. Amazing to see when young but
senior years teach fear. Also the ember attacks in Victoria could now
happen here.
I have packed a quick escape bag. My kitten is 9 months old and could
outrun me. Head for the river and jump in. Basically out here in the
outback we are on our own, which is best since we know the local
conditions. My house has been here a hundred years, so doubt it will go
down. Still, one needs to be prepared. Best wishes, Chris Jones.
