DRUG SAFETY RESEARCH UNIT
A statistician is required for a post at the Drug Safety Research Unit in Southampton. The person appointed will work on a variety of projects on observational studies on drug safety, providing advice on statistical aspects of medical research, including study design, data management, analysis, interpretation and publication of results. Depending on experience and interest the statistician will be encouraged (with the appropriate level of supervision) to take part in statistical methodological research in relation to drug safety.
Ideally, candidates should have an MSc/PhD in Medical Statistics and experience of at least one statistical and epidemiological software package (such as SPSS/SAS and STATA). However medical statisticians with a broad range of backgrounds are welcome to apply. Familiarity with SQL software for purposes of interrogating DSRU databases would be useful.
Training as necessary will be provided.
Starting salary would be in the range of £25-£40,000 per annum depending on experience and the post will, initially, be for two years with the expectation of it being continued. The job will be based at the Drug Safety Research Unit, in pleasant surroundings, near Southampton.
Part-time or flexible working arrangements, e.g. working partly from home, flexible daily hours or flexible working days in relation to school terms are possible for suitable candidates.
