An exciting opportunity exists for an Analyst / Programmer in the Statistical
Computing Team within Statistical Sciences.
At GSK, one of the world’s leading healthcare businesses, we discover,
develop and produce products that help people live longer, do more and feel
better.
The Statistical Computing Team is a small specialist group focusing primarily on
the development and support of high quality statistical applications for use by
both statisticians and scientists throughout R&D’s Pre-Clinical Development
Division internationally. These systems can implement novel statistical
methods or are used to free statistical resource for work in new areas and
also to speed the drug development process by reducing the data analysis and
reporting cycle time. The team is also responsible for the maintenance of the
department’s training laptops and website.
You will be expected to contribute effectively to, and participate
enthusiastically in, all aspects of the system development lifestyle.
Good communication skills and a clear analytical mind are essential throughout
the development of a system, but particularly when dealing with scientists and
statisticians during the gathering of requirements and the support of the
completed system.
Problem solving skills and an ability to think creatively will be required during
the design and coding of the system in order to achieve the most efficient and
usable implementation of the requirements.
Testing of systems must be done with an eye for detail and a thorough,

though at a superior level of ability. They will also be expected to plan and
project manage system development activities, and other major projects,
which impact multiple groups within GSK.
Development of systems is shared across the team so an ability to work well
as part of a team is essential.
