Two lecturing positions

The Department is the largest University Statistics group in Australia, with 25 academic staff. The successful applicants for the positions will teach in a variety of units at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, and carry out research. While the areas of statistical research are not prescribed, applicants with strong records in applied or theoretical statistics will be preferred. Current areas of research may be found at http://www.stat.mq.edu.au/research. Applicants should indicate the level at which they wish to apply for each position.

Associate Lecturer (Level A) or Lecturer (Level B) 2 positions (Ref: 22072)

Successful applicants will contribute to teaching at undergraduate level and engage in scholarly and research activities, undertake associated administration, and contribute to university service.

Essential criteria: A PhD (or submitted) in statistics or a related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience; submission of at least one article to an international statistics journal; ability to teach undergraduate statistics, as demonstrated, for example, by experience in tutoring or lecturing; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Desirable Criteria: evidence of interest in interdisciplinary research.

Additional Essential criteria at Level B: an established research record or evidence of outstanding research potential in a relevant area of statistics.

The positions are available from 2010 on a full-time (continuing) basis. Probationary conditions may apply.
Package: Level A (Associate Lecturer) - From $62,082 pa, including base salary $52,460 to $70,953 pa, 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading . An appointee with a PhD will be appointed to a minimum of Step 6 on the salary scale, currently $66,145 pa.
 
Package: Level B (Lecturer) - From $88,347 pa, including base salary $74,654 to $88,526 pa, 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
