The Perinatal Institute has a vacancy as follows:
Medical Statistician
£29,789 - £45,596 (AfC band 7/8a, dependent on experience)
Type of contract: 2 years fixed term, in the first instance
Some previous experience as a medical statistician is desirable but not
essential.
A postgraduate degree in Medical Statistics or Statistics (with a strong
medical component) is required.
Generally, the job entails responsibility for the auditing and expert
analysis of cases of perinatal outcome and the development of manual and
electronic tools for their high-quality data collection and manipulation.
Specifically, the prospective post-holder will perform ad-hoc analyses and
statistical modelling using methodologies such as ROC and
multiple/multilevel/logistic regression. Expert use of statistical packages
such as SAS, SPSS or Stata is essential, together with excellent Excel and
Access skills. An ability to extend knowledge to use tools such as SQL
Server and VBA should be demonstrated as well as an understanding of the
systems involved in an information-based environment.
