JOB DESCRPTION
One of our largest clients is actively seeking an experienced statistician
to provide statistical support and training for both the UK and European
office. You will be part of a global department containing Statisticians,
Data Managers and Clinical Researchers. They comprise of around 140
individuals in the US, Asia , and our European group numbers around 10.
There is a strong network within the European group and the global
department so plenty of help and support is readily available.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You will consult on all aspects of Statistics to meet the changing needs of
the business, ranging from upstream science through to the analysis of
trials. Consulting covers the design of studies as well as the analysis and
interpretation. You will also help train the local organizations in
Statistics to increase their capabilities. Project work may be one-off
pieces or you may be a fully-integrated part of a multi-disciplinary team
with long-term objectives.
On a broader level you will look for opportunities to improve organizational
effectiveness through efficient management of data and automation of routine
statistical tasks. In this you will partner with departmental colleagues in
Europe and the US. You will also collaborate with your European colleagues
to deliver statistical training in other European technical centres.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• A strong technical breadth and depth in Statistics. You will likely have
a first degree containing a significant amount of Statistics and a Masters
degree or a degree in Statistics/closely related field. Key areas of
knowledge are statistical modelling, multivariate analysis and design of
experiments. You will be comfortable and competent in using a range of
statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, JMP, SPSS are all used).
• You will have an enquiring mind and be interested in science and how data
and statistical analyses can be used. Being able to connect and develop
ideas and be innovative are desirable attributes. You will be expected to
continue your professional development as a statistician and training is
actively supported.
• You are likely to have had some experience in a consulting role or
similar. You will also have demonstrated an ability to partner effectively
and communicate with managers, scientists, researchers and others whose
statistical knowledge may be limited. Good written and oral communication
skills are essential as is an ability to form collaborative relationships
and build effective networks. Many projects have multi-national scope so
you will need to be able to work productively with colleagues located
remotely.
• Personal effectiveness and management of a broad workload is important to
success, especially as you will have a lot of independence. You will likely
have experience managing complexity in your daily work and be able to manage
your time well.
• An appreciation of Data Management and Clinical Research is desirable to
help make you more effective in your day-to-day role plus to help facilitate
bringing in techniques and methodologies via your colleagues.
