Jeff,
Should be 1 subject, 1 condition. Let's say your task blocks are 20 s long,
with 5 s rest/fixation prior to each task block. Onsets for task would would
be 5 30 55 80; onsets for rest would be 0 25 50 75. Durations would be 20 20
20 20 for task and 5 5 5 5. If you choose scans, divide onsets and durations
by TR (TR = interscan interval). Unless you are using a batch (i.e., passing
the spm_job the .txt files containing onsets & durations), try copy &
pasting onsets & durations into spm gui.
If I have misunderstood your task or you still get an error, please post the
error message from Matlab.
