The fourth issue of the Newsletter of the Library of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) is out now. Visit http://www.quaker.org.uk/library-newsletter to read news about the Library's unique collections and their preservation. The Library dates back to 1673 and covers Quaker history and thought, as well as topics in areas where Quakers have been active, such as peace, anti-slavery and relief work. It also holds the central archives of the Society of Friends in Britain (Britain Yearly Meeting) and rich manuscript collections.
This edition celebrates the opening of the Quaker Centre at Friends House and looks at the history of Quaker centres around the world. The new edition of Beck and Ball's 1869 London Friends' Meetings is welcomed. The Library's plans for online access to the manuscript, archive and photographic catalogues are revealed, and we take a look at the revamped Library website. BeFriend a Book and preservation news describes continuing improvements in the preservation of the collections and recent conservation work.
