Women in German Studies: Postgraduate and Early Career Workshop
As an addition to this year’s Annual Meeting, Women in German Studies are
organising a Postgraduate and Early Career workshop. This is your chance to
get advice and information from colleagues who are ‘there’, have been ‘there’
or know how to get ‘there’, when it comes to getting your foot on the
academic career ladder. The first session will cover building your CV (what
looks good and what employers expect) and getting that first post (how to
get a job and what to expect when you have it). The second session is
designed to help you get to grips with the changing research climate and to
understanding what these changes mean for early career researchers. The
workshop will be held in Birmingham on Friday 6 November 2009. It is open to
both members and non-members of WIGS and will be of interest to all
postgraduates and early career researchers in the Arts who are considering an
academic career. There is a registration fee of £5.
