About the Seminar
This presentation discusses validation of task performance of air traffic controllers when using the new Air Traffic Control (ATC) system developed in NATS, known as interim Future Area Control Tools Support (iFACTS). It shows six distinctive steps taken to assure that the new system is fit for its intended purpose and that air traffic controllers can do their job. Practical examples from recent NATS validation activities are presented for each step. The presentation aims to show how the use of different sources of data and statistical methods can provide validation evidence and inform decision-making of the UK's air navigation service provider.
About the Speaker
Branka has over ten years experience in the field of aviation, including consultancy, research, regulatory, and academic experience. As a senior human factors specialist with NATS, Branka is involved in validation of iFACTS and assessment of training effectiveness. Branka holds a PhD in Air Traffic Management from Imperial College London (Civil Engineering, Centre for Transport Studies)
