Hi Gemma - please see 'Getting Lucky' in the Planet Science 'Hat's off to Science' section about the wider skills science gives you along with science knowledge, in this case appreciation of risk.

I'm hoping Dr Sai Pathmanathan will also respond as she put this activity together and helped to trial it in a school. It's aimed at 11 - 14 year olds and lasts 45 minutes, I'm pleased to say.

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Healthcare session to demonstrate sexually transmitted diseases to children
Hi there
I'm running a 45 minute session for 11-12 year olds on an aspect of the healthcare industry and would like to take the opportunity to demonstrate the virulent nature of sexually transmittable diseases. Does anyone have any experience of running such a session or any ideas for something that will be fun in practice but will ultimately jolt young people into protecting themselves?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Gemma
