Dear colleague,
We are pleased to send the first announcement of the two-day workshop
"Molecular Photoreactivity on Metal-Oxide Surfaces from First-Principles:
Photo-catalysis and Photovoltaics" that will take place on Friday and
Saturday, December 4-5, 2009 at the Central Campus of Consejo Superior de
Investigaciones Científicas (C.S.I.C) in Madrid, Spain.
Updated information about the Workshop with registration information, etc,.
is provided on the webpage:
http://www.iff.csic.es/fama/con/FPMPMO-2009/index.html.
There is a pdf announcement flyer and a pdf brochure with the preliminary
program at:

This workshop is intended to bring together scientists from around the
world, either to present the latest advances of their research in the field
or, research from related areas (e.g., molecular photoreactivity and
electronic structure methods in gas-phase and gas/metal interfaces) to
initiate collaborative projects aimed to achieve a microscopic understanding
of photo-catalysis processes on metal-oxides. Although the conference has a
fundamental theoretical character, experimentalists are also invited to
participate, to highlight problems that might stimulate the development of
new (first-principles) methodological strategies and combined
experimental/theoretical studies of model systems. Some sessions of the
meeting will be dedicated to the application/development of computational
and methodological approaches to the problem of calculating excited states
of molecule/metal-oxide surfaces and interfaces, including local
correlation-cluster (LCC) approaches,
Time-Dependent-Density-Functional-Theory(TDDFT)-based treatments, or
ab-initio molecular dynamics (MD) techniques. Special topics will include
electronic-charge-transfer processes (e.g., the electron injection
mechanism) in dye-sensitivized semiconductors as TiO2), novel deposition
techniques on the surface of nano-particles or nano-structured surface
metal-oxides, and the application of quantum control techniques (e.g., to
address hot photoelectron injection).
We have tried to keep the costs down and have a fixed regular participant
registration fee of 100.00 euros. The fee includes the lunches,
coffee-breaks, and workshop material. The fee does not include room costs.
Each participant should arrange its own hotel reservation. To facilitate it
we have added the link:
http://www.iff.csic.es/fama/con/FPMPMO-2009/accommodation.html.
Also, a number of rooms have been reserved on the CSIC central campus.
There is a possibility, based on the submitted abstracts, to present a
contributed talk (about 3) instead of a poster. The workshop is limited to 40
participants so that an early registration is highly recommended (abstracts
will be accepted mainly on a space-available basis). Each abstract should be
submitted using the template file on the website, and should be from one to
two pages long (including figures and references).
Deadlines:
Submission of poster abstracts and online pre-registration: From September
28 to November 9 (2009)
Notificacion of acceptance: From abstract submission to November 16 (2009)
Payment of the workshop fees: From notificacion of acceptance to November 23
(2009)
We hope you can attend and we all are looking forward to a very fruitful
workshop.
Very best regards,
The FPMPMO-2009 organizing Committee
