Dear All doctoral students looking at IA
You might also want to tap into midwife researchers who are doing historical research by hearing retired midwives' stories. Although not yet retired, I used to work on labour suites where intermittent auscultation using a pinard used to be the norm for all women with uncomplicated labours. This even in the days when we 'scrubbed up' quite early - dads became adept at placing the stethoscope on the woman's abdomen so that the midwife could put her ear to it without decontaminating her gloves!
Best wishes with your studies.

Hi Robyn
I am in the second year of my PhD and am also looking at fetal
monitoring and at the moment I am examining the literature for barriers
and facilitators to midwives use of IA.
You gave me Erna Snelgrove-Clarke email address earlier this year -
[log in to unmask] I don't know the contacts for the other 2
though.
Regards
Mary
