medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Here's an "I don't know where to start looking" question. Can anyone
recommend where to look for information on any religious practices
common to formal dining in a 15th century noble Spanish household?
I did a small research project on table grace before and after meals
in England in the 15th century a couple of years ago, but I have no
idea whether Spain, being generally a region that does things its own
distinctive way,* would have followed the same sort of social
patterns. (*Spain: land of the diagonally plaid cotehardies ;)
There do seem to be some readily available resources for England, most
notably Peter Brears' _Dining in Medieval England_, but they may not
be relevant to Spain. Any ideas?
