Dear Colleagues,
This is to let you know about the Parliamentary Launch of the Citizens' Coalition for Public Service Broadcasting (CCPSB) on Monday 2 November at 5.30pm at Portcullis House, Westminster, hosted by John Grogan MP. All are welcome, but places need to be reserved in advance by writing to the Coalition at: [log in to unmask]
The Coalition is a new organisation consisting of a broad mix of civil society groups, charities, community groups, unions, arts organisations and concerned individuals who believe that public service broadcasting is a public good. The CCPSB campaigns for quality and diversity in British broadcasting and related on-line services, and is concerned about some of the possible outcomes of the Digital Britain White Paper. At present we are concerned about the proposal to top-slice the Licence Fee, about the remit and funding support for Channel 4 and about the ability of ITV to continue to provide news for the nations and regions. We are also concerned that sufficient resources are made available to maintain and if possible increase investment in original programme production within the UK. I attach a CCPSB leaflet and further information is available from our website at: www.publicservicebroadcasting.org.uk <http://www.publicservicebroadcasting.org.uk/>
I do hope you might be able to attend the Launch event.
With best wishes, Sylvia
Sylvia Harvey,
Professor of Broadcasting Policy,
Chair, Citizens' Coalition for Public Service Broadcasting
