Hi all,
Apologies for this slightly strange question.
We've discovered a bit of an issue just now with a colleague who has
something called Nuance PDF Reader who has been trying to download
articles from ScienceDirect - he just couldn't. I've checked their
system requirements, and it seems they only support Adobe Reader, so
that anyone who is using something else like my colleague, will come a
bit unstuck!
I must say this is all news to me - perhaps I'm missing something - but
it does occurr to me that this is a bit of a problem, and wondered if
anyone knew of any other platforms where this might be the case? I
imagine there must be a fair few potential users out there using open
source PDF readers for example and I just cannot believe that they would
also come unstuck! I know it's not a big problem to actually download
Adobe Reader, buy some either can't (my colleague, for example, can't as
Nuance PDF is now his un-defaultable default!) or won't, and it does
seems a little wrong.
Any pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
Best wishes,
Sarah
