THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI
in Columbia, Missouri (MU) is inviting applications for TWO positions:
1) a tenure-track assistant professor in COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY or
COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE and 2) a tenure-track assistant professor in
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY. The Cognitive position will be affiliated with
the Cognition and Neuroscience area and could also be affiliated with
the departmental Brain Imaging Center with its research-dedicated 3T
scanner. The primary criteria for filling the position are
demonstrated scholarly excellence and potential for securing
extramural funding in of cognitive psychology. Our goal is to hire an
individual with the potential to become a nationally recognized
cognitive scientist and thus contribute to building a nationally-
renowned cognition and neuroscience program at Missouri. The Clinical
position will consider all areas of research, although applicants with
research interests in clinical child psychology, including
neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, pediatric/health
psychology, community psychology, or family/marital issues, are
especially encouraged to apply. The primary criteria for filling the
position are demonstrated scholarly excellence and potential for
securing extramural funding in clinical psychology.
The University of Missouri is an AAU Public, Carnegie Research 1
University, and the Department of Psychological Sciences is research-
oriented (http://psychology.missouri.edu/). The Department of
Psychological Sciences is made up of 5 areas including Clinical,
Cognition & Neuroscience, Developmental, Quantitative and Social/
Personality. The department manages a research dedicated Brain Imaging
Center and a Psychological Services Clinic. Department faculty members
have ongoing collaborations with various campus and community units
such as the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental
Disorders, Interdisciplinary Neuroscience, Life Sciences Center, the
Medical School, Fulton State Hospital, Boone County Juvenile Court,
and the Midwest Alcoholism Research Center. Although the primary focus
for both positions is on research and scholarship, teaching at the
undergraduate and graduate level is expected and valued; the normal
teaching load is three courses/year, with potential early-career
reductions and further course releases possible through grant buyouts
and other exceptional circumstances. Salary and start-up funds are
highly competitive.
