PARTNER DEPARTMENT SOUGHT FOR ELEARNING PROJECT
As part of the Higher Education Academy's Discipline-focused Learning
Technology Enhancement programme, the Economics Network is looking to
support a department in a HEFCE-funded institution with using technology to
enhance teaching, learning and assessment.
This 12-month project, running until November 2010, will enable departmental
teams to benefit from consultancy support, and attend two change management
events. To find out more, please go to:
http://www.economicsnetwork.ac.uk/node/901
The deadline for submission of proposals: 16th November 2009
WORKSHOPS
We have two GTA and New Lecturer workshops for UK based economics lecturers:
New Lecturers' Residential Workshop, University of Bristol, 16-17 October 2009
Economics GTAs Workshop, University of East Anglia, 18 November 2009
Previous workshops have been a success with positive feedback from
participants, such as: "It is an excellent event. I have really learnt a lot
which I am sure will go along way in improving my teaching".
We would appreciate it if you could encourage colleagues to attend. There is
no charge for coming along and reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed.

ACADEMY SCOTLAND TRAVEL FUND 2009-10
The 2009-10 Academy Scotland Travel Fund has been launched . This continuing
initiative, originally launched by Academy Scotland last academic year, is
aimed at enabling staff and students in Scottish HEIs to engage with
colleagues from other parts of the UK and to support their institution's
priorities and developments in learning and teaching.
The funding may be used to help colleagues attend events organised (or
jointly organised) by the Higher Education Academy and its Subject Centre
network, that are being run in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. Please
note that funding may not be used for events that are being held in
Scotland or for events that are being held outside the UK.
Listings of our forthcoming events can be found at:
http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/events (Academy York) and
http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/events/centres (Subject Centres).
In a change from last year, there are no set closing dates for
applications. Applications from staff and students in Scotland's 20 HEIs
are invited throughout the academic year 2009-10. We will fund up to 30
bursaries to a maximum value of £300 each.
