O ran diddordeb, oes rhywun wedi sylwi ar 'Mount Snowdon'yn ymddangos yn y cyfryngau Saesneg (radio, teledu a'r papurau) dros y misoedd diwethaf, lle byddai 'Snowdon' gynt am yr Wyddfa? Mae e'n hala fi'n benwan a dw i ddim yn gwybod pam! Ai dylanwad Saesneg America yw hyn? O'n i'n meddwl mai 'Snowdon' oedd yr enw Saesneg cywir!

O ran diddordeb, newydd gael neges gan ffrind yn son am ei gwyliau:
"Alhambra (am trying not to say THE Alhambra as 'al' means 'the')"
Mae'r un peth yn wir am "Mount Fujiyama" (yama = mynydd) ac am llawer o
enwau lleoedd eraill, mae'n siwr.

Dwi'n cytuno, Geraint. "Wiltshire" ar ben ei hun fyddai orau dwi'n meddwl,
neu os oes rhaid dilyn y patrwm 'Swydd', "Swydd Wilton", gan mai ar l y
dref honno yr enwyd y sir, cyn i Gaersallog, Trowbridge a Swindon ddod yn
drefi amlycach/pwysicach.

Cofion gorau,

Huw

Ydi "Swydd Wiltshire" ddim yn enghraifft o ailadrodd? Fel y dafarn yng Nglyn
Ceiriog sy'n galw ei hun "The Glyn Valley".

Un ai "Wiltshire" neu "Swydd Wilt" fyddai'n gywir am wn i. Ac mae "Swydd
Wilt" yn rhy ddoniol, felly "Wiltshire".

O'r cofnod "Bm hefyd ar ymweliad diddorol Shrivenham yn Wiltshire
..." er efallai y byddai 'Swydd Wiltshire' yn well ac mae digon o
enghreifftiau ohono ar y rhyngrwyd.
