Wikimedia has a very large collection of Creative Commons images of all kinds. I have been using it for natural history photographs, just enter a search term and see what you come up with. One hint for plants is use the latin name it brings up more images than the common name.

Subject: Re: [PSCI-COM] Free Stock Science Images?
I find http://compfight.com/ really handy for this. It's a simple, user-friendly way to search flickr for Creative Commons images.
For example, here's all the Creative Commons images tagged 'science' on flickr http://compfight.com/#search_type=tags&query=science&commit=Search&license=comm&original=1&safe_search=1
(Most of you probably know about Creative Commons, but if you don't, it's a way of saying 'I'll let other people use the content I've produced', more info http://creativecommons.org/about/what-is-cc)
Cheers,
Sophia

You can simply search flickr for Creative Commons images, which is simpler than having to ask for permissions for each
