Dear members of the Astrophysical Chemistry Group / Colleagues
if you are interested to organize a session at NAM 2010 in the fields
of astrochemistry astrobiology, planetary science or a related topic,
please see details below and reply to Martin Hendry by Oct 30th 2009.

Dear Colleagues
RAS National Astronomy Meeting 2010
Glasgow, April 12th - 16th 2010
Call for Parallel Session Nominations
I am writing to you on behalf of the Scientific Organising Committee
of the RAS National Astronomy Meeting 2010.
As many of you will already be aware NAM 2010 will be held in Glasgow,
from April 12th - 16th 2010, and will incorporate both the UK Solar
Physics (UKSP) and Magnetosphere, Ionosphere and Solar-Terrestrial
(MIST) meetings.
The NAM 2010 programme will include 14 plenary lectures covering a
wide range of topics in solar and solar-terrestrial physics, planetary
science, stellar astrophysics, astro-particle physics and cosmology.
The plenary lectures will also highlight the UK's leading role in key
current and future space missions and ground-based facilities,
including Herschel, JWST and ELT.
The NAM 2010 programme will include slots for up to 42 parallel
sessions, each of 90 minutes' duration, with further sessions in the
programme dedicated for poster viewing.
On behalf of the NAM 2010 Scientific Organising Committee I would
like to invite from the community nominations for parallel session
themes for next year's meeting. Nominations are welcomed for any
topic or research area considered relevant to the NAM, UKSP and MIST
meetings. Particularly welcomed are nominations likely to have broad
cross-community appeal.
At this stage nominees are requested to submit the following
information (by email, to [log in to unmask]):
1. Theme and provisional title of parallel session.
2. Brief (i.e. a few sentences) rationale for its nomination
3. A nominated session organiser (preferably an individual who has
already agreed to undertake this role!)
The SOC will be pleased to consider nominations for multiple parallel
sessions - i.e. 2 or more sessions with a linked theme that would run
across several days of the NAM programme - and for joint parallel
sessions which highlight areas of overlap between the NAM, UKSP and
MIST communities.
The SOC also particularly welcomes nominations for themes that are
regarded as timely, e.g. relating to current or upcoming missions.
Moreover, NAM 2010 will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the
Regius Chair of Astronomy at Glasgow, and will feature a vibrant
programme of lectures and workshops for schools and the public. Hence
nominations for parallel sessions related to the history of astronomy,
and/or to astronomy education and outreach, are also encouraged.
Please send your session nominations (to [log in to unmask]) by
OCTOBER 31st 2009. The NAM 2010 SOC will meet shortly thereafter to
review the nominations received. It is expected that the final
programme of parallel sessions will be drawn up before the end of 2009.
Best regards
Martin Hendry
