*Apologies for cross posting*
Hi all,
Can I ask the list how they have been working with departments who have very
specialised ways of aggregating their publications? For example, Chemistry
researchers do not compile a traditional Word document (in most cases)
anymore. Rather, they submit a range of files into the publishers' online
templates and these are revised after peer review. Often they correct drafts
line by line in an e-mail correspondence with the publisher. I think this is
how ACS and RSC are now developing their papers online. At no point is the
file aggregated as one document until the publisher pdf is created. I don't
think its feasible to offer to aggregate the files either by repository
staff or to suggest proxies in departments do this job. I think asking them
to change their own workflows for the IR and do extra work will be met very
negatively.
I'm looking at the workflows used by the different publishers involved at
the moment but find it hard to envisage adding many AFDs here in the
conventional way.
thanks
