Just to let you know that:
The What’s New pages of the PastScape website have recently been updated
with an article commemorating the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the
Second World War http://www.pastscape.org.uk/News.aspx?id=NewsItem14.
The article explores the various themes and types of Second World War
heritage sites that have been recorded in the last 20 years and a number of
interesting examples are highlighted.
In a follow up to the successful HER Summer Forum on recording military sites,
a news item also features on the Heritage Gateway website, reviewing the
thematic surveys undertaken by staff at the National Monuments Record
(NMR) to record 20th century military sites. This aims to provide all heritage
professionals and those involved in recording military heritage with an
overview of the content and scope of the recording projects carried out by
the NMR up to now, and those which are on-going.
PastScape is the online version of the national historic environment record
curated by the National Monuments record (NMR).
