Languages in Context: Histories and Futures of Modern Language Study in
Britain
School of Modern Languages and Cultures
The University of Glasgow
The autumn 2009 series seeks to identify the broad cultural pressures which
led to the establishment and development of the modern foreign languages as
disciplines in British universities. Contributions from scholars in French, Russian
and German will serve as platforms for discussions aiming to contextualize
current institutional agendas.
