Dear all,
We would like to draw your attention to the "Out of Africa" conference
which aims to provide a discussion forum for a broad range of Earth
Science investigations of the African continent and its margins. The
conference is in honour of the birthdays of Kevin Burke (80) and Lewis
Ashwal (60) who have both lost their hearts to African geology. So
please consider joining your friends and colleagues in Johannesburg in
November!

* Africa through time: plate reconstructions and palaeogeography
* Pan-African assembly and magmatic and orogenic processes
* Formation (and destruction) of cratonic areas
* Large Igneous Provinces and layered intrusions
* Plumes and hotspots
* The origin of anorthosites
* African and peri-African meteorites and impact craters
* Geochronology and the tempo of evolution
* The passive margins of Africa
* Microcontinent formation
* Intracontinental rifts
* Formation and evolution of sedimentary basins
* Africa's (palaeo) topography
* Subduction along Africa's northern margin
* Imaging the African crust and mantle
