Research Associate / Senior Research Associate in Epidemiology/Biostatistics

This post is based in the Centre for Paediatric Epidemiology and
Biostatistics and is funded by the Medical Research Council until the end of
February 2012.
This is an important strategic appointment to develop and strengthen a
research programme in epidemiology for policy. This programme will link to
existing areas of research currently represented within the Centre’s
mission/research portfolio.
The post holder will play a key role in developing the programme of work for
the Policy Research Working Group of the Centre. The opening work programme
is focused on epidemiological research in two areas. The first is on the
prevention of childhood and adult obesity, using cohort and cross-cohort
analyses. The second is on life course approaches to promoting children’s
health, particularly addressing inequalities in health and the determinants
of health. Methods include cohort and cross-cohort analyses and the use of
routine data.
Key Requirements
Doctorate in epidemiology, statistics, or other relevant public health
science or equivalent level of attainment
Research experience of secondary data analysis and large data sets using
standard software packages (eg Stata)
Strong working knowledge of research methods in epidemiology and statistics
Strong analytic skills, including statistical analysis
Excellent written, verbal and numeracy skills
Grading and remuneration information
Grade 7 - £31,620 - £38,250 per annum
Grade 8 - £39,313 - £46,403 per annum
