Following the outstanding success of the inaugural Big Bang UK Young
Scientists and Engineers Fair in London in 2009, we are now planning a
signicantly larger event in Manchester Central from 11 – 13 March 2010. We
are now seeking providers of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
(STEM) Enhancement and Enrichment activities to submit ideas for 2010.
These could be in any of the following areas:
o STEM activities – a wide variety of interactive stands from many different
providers, all designed to engage young people.
o Activities, stands, workshops or presentations suitable for teachers and
career professionals.
o A careers hub, showcasing a full spectrum of STEM careers, with
opportunities to meet role models
o Major, inspirational theatrical shows for up to 1200 people and
presentations for up to 800 young people which will be interactive and/or
visually stimulating
o Hands-on workshops for up to 40/80 students (depending on room sizes),
giving them an opportunity to experience science and engineering
The Big Bang celebrates the achievement and excellence of young people
through the National Science and Engineering Competition, which culminates
at The Fair, while engaging and inspiring them with a wide range of activities,
presentations and events. The 2010 celebration of science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM) will provide a focal point for the
professional STEM community and our many partners to engage over 13,000
visitors, mostly young people, including those who have never considered the
possibility of a career in science or engineering.
If you would like to propose one or more activities, please complete the form
on our website: http://www.thebigbangfair.co.uk/activities.cfm
The closing date for this first round of proposals is 5th October.
