A postdoctoral position in computational/theoretical chemistry is open in
the group of Prof. R.B. Gerber at the University of California, Irvine. The
position is for studies of thermal and photochemical reactions of
atmospherically relevant molecules, in particular NOx compounds and organic
peroxides on ice particles, water droplets, and other surfaces. The research
task is to explore the molecular mechanisms of atmospheric reactions using
state-of-the-art methods that combine dynamics with ab initio methods. The
project will also pursue development of new methods for studying chemical
dynamics on ice and water particles and other hydrogen bonded materials. The
work will involve close collaboration with experimental groups at UCI.
Previous experience with electronic structure methods and/or molecular
dynamics simulations is highly desirable. The position is available starting
from September 2009. The initial appointment is for one year, with a
possibility of renewal. Send your CV, list of publications, and arrange for
three reference letters to be e-mailed Prof. R. B. Gerber at
