Salary scale for University Grade 7: £28,839 - £30,594 per annum (pro rata)
We have an exciting vacancy to join several leading international scientists
working with 30-40 Kenyan health researchers in Nairobi as part of the
KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programme (www.kemri-wellcome.org). The
scientific teams in Nairobi work on Malaria, Health Systems and Child &
Newborn Health. A wide variety of research and analytical approaches are
employed including but not limited to: clinical and health systems
intervention trials, systematic reviews, cost-effectiveness analyses,
multi-level modelling, geo-spatial modelling, and time-series analyses.
This new post has been created as part of a Wellcome Trust Strategic Award
to help develop the research in Nairobi, and build the capacity of young
Kenyan scientists. The post is funded for an initial period of 3 years but
funding will be sought to maintain the post. Based in Nairobi, the
post-holder will also be a member of the Centre for Tropical Medicine and
the Department of Public Health at the University of Oxford and contribute
to and benefit from collaborative work with the Department of Medical
Statistics and others at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
You will have a PhD in Medical Statistics or Epidemiology or equivalent
experience. You will have a strong interest in health in developing
countries and commitment to working in a multidisciplinary team. Scientific
writing skills as evidenced by papers in the scientific literature are
essential and experience of working in a low-income country would be
desirable.
