A friend of mine recently related a story about two sets of people who
were asked to rate the humour of some TV programmes. The first set just
sat and watched, the second set were asked to grip a pencil horizontally
between their teeth. The second set consistently rated the humour
levels as higher. The theory was that holding the pencil simulated
smiling. I think this is a lovely idea and wish it didn't make you look
so daft while you are doing it! Mind you... it would make everyone
around you laugh more...
