Great idea! But two quick questions - why not use the official UK
government petition site (http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/)?
And for those new to the sector/country or whose memories have blurred
in the meantime, are there any sites still running so we can get an idea
of the scope and types of content? I know Ingenious
(http://www.ingenious.org.uk/) was one but my knowledge of projects
outside the M25 is sketchy.
cheers, Mia

Subject: Petition to Creative Industries Minister to intervene to save
NOF Digi content
Dear MCG'ers,
A number of people have recently been discussing the possibility of
investing in the legacy of digital content produced by the New
Opportunities Fund Digitisation programme (NOF-digi) to consolidate it,
refresh it and bring it to a wider audience.
Although a recent JISC Digitisation funding application in this area was
unsuccessful, it seems that we may have a political ally in the person
of Sion Simon, Creative Industries Minister at DCMS. Sion has recently
taken an interest in the issue of public collections online and is
aligned with the emerging open content lobby in Whitehall.
It would be really useful to have some indication of the appetite in the
MCG community for investing in bringing the NOF-digi content back to
life. I have therefore put a petition online at:
http://www.petitiononline.com/savedigi/
It only takes a few seconds to register your name as a signatory, so if
this is something you feel strongly about, please do sign up.
Yours sincerely,
Nick
