Dear Colleagues
Here at Keele U's Health Library, which is an integrated HE/NHS service, we
can only offer 1-day and 5-day logins to NHS colleagues for walk-in access
to the Keele network in our IT Suite. As we understand it, the JANET AUP
doesn't necessarily preclude offering access to third parties on a limited
basis providing no charge is made. We are seeking to persuade our IT
department to offer longer periods of access, but require ammunition in the
form of examples of good practice from elsewhere in the HE sector.
When we last looked into this two years ago, St George's (London) and King's
(London) kindly summarised the arrangements at their respective institutions
for much longer periods of access.
We would be glad to hear of any further examples, in particular how access
is managed and if there have been any issues with JANET rules/regulations
and/or local IT support.
Many thanks
