I fully agree with Vashti. I tried to complete it as best I could but was hampered, and had to leave quite a few questions un answered, as the options I felt I would want were not there. I have forwarded this message on to all my other Library colleagues as I think it is a very interesting and potentially important study, (something that CILIP should be doing if it were on the ball).

Good luck with it but if it is not too late to withdraw it and possibly add some more options then it might help you get more accurate results. Alternately where people just do not answer and you have only given a couple of options you will have to interpret these accordingly.

An interesting survey, but I found a few of the questions didn't give
enough options for answers, e.g. there was a straight yes/no and not
enough neutral options. For example, one question asked something like
whether it had hindered career advancement being female, or whether it
had helped with career advancement; in my case I've never felt my gender
has either helped or hindered, but the question responses didn't enable
me to take a neutral middle ground.

Otherwise an interesting survey, but just wanted to share that feedback,
in case anyone else found that their replies were also perhaps giving
the research findings a slant in a direction which didn't quite match
their experiences? Genuinely not trying to criticize the survey design,
just trying to give feedback about the way some of the answers provided
may bias the replies...or frustrate survey respondants!
