This is an exciting small-scale interdisciplinary project looking at the use of in-gallery and online digital media (including social media) for young audiences. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with Seven Stories with the support of the International Centre for Cultural and Heritage Studies (ICCHS) and Computing Science at Newcastle University. The project will contribute to the forthcoming exhibition on Puffin Books, to take place in Seven Stories in Spring 2010.

A researcher's position is now available in a Collaborative Innovation Partnership (CIP) project that explores the application of digital technologies to enhance the in-gallery and online experience and engagement of children and young people with Seven Stories' exhibitions and its unique children's literature archive (http://www.sevenstories.org.uk/ <http://www.sevenstories.org.uk/> )
The project is a collaboration between the International Centre for Cultural & Heritage Studies and the School of Computing Science at Newcastle University, and Seven Stories, The Centre for Children's Books. It is funded by One North East.
Candidates for the post should be able to demonstrate:
* A good honours degree in Computing Science, Learning Technologies, Interaction Design or any other relevant disciplines.
* Confidence/knowledge in working with interactive web technologies (including social media) and content management systems.
* Experience in working with multimedia content.
* Good communication and presentation skills.
* The ability to work independently and to manage projects as part of a small team.
The post is available on a 6 months full-time or 9 months part-time basis.
Salary: £19,500 per annum
