Julian,
DCMI agrees with your initiative to submit the obsoleting RFC.
It is my understanding that you have submitted a first Internet
Draft [1] for a proposed RFC in order to mark RFC 2731 [2] as
"historic" (obsolete) and point readers to more current
specifications on the DCMI Web site, and that the text of RFC
2731 will remain accessible.
The option of revising the RFC by republishing the text of the
current DC-HTML recommendation through IETF would entail a
longer-term maintenance burden.
We would appreciate if you could occasionally report as the
draft progresses through IETF process.
