Dear colleagues,
The shiny new UK Archives Discovery Network is keen to continue working towards greater
collaboration, sharing and opening up data for the benefit of researchers.
The Name Authorities Working Group of the UKAD network is looking at how we can
better promote best practice in the creation of indexes and authority records and how we can
progress the creation and sharing of authority records.
This is a reminder that we would really appreciate more responses to the survey that we have
created. It is aimed at archivists working in all sectors, and its findings will help facilitate
data sharing between systems and services.
Your feedback will enable the UKAD network to recommend improvements to training and best practice.
Without an understanding of where we are at, it is very difficult to know how best to progress.
We realise that it takes time out of a busy day to complete a survey like this, but it will benefit
the whole archive community.
Location of the questionnaire: http://www.archiveshub.ac.uk/archivesnetwork.html
[The questionnaire is hosted on the Archives Hub site, but it is not in any way tied to the Hub.]
The closing date for completion is the end of September 2009.
Note: We are very happy to receive submissions from multiple archivists at the same repository;
almost all questions are optional; comments can be given; it is perfectly valid to respond saying
that you are not clear about what the question is asking, or do not really know the answer.
Many thanks,
Jane Stevenson, on behalf of
