(organized by the Applied Statistics Association
of Sri Lanka) will be held from 8 - 10 January
2009 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI)
Auditorium. The main goal of this conference is
to bring together applied and theoretical
statisticians to present their research findings,
to interact with each other and to share their
knowledge towards the development of the country.
The conference will include presentations of
invited papers and contributed papers from
eminent Statisticians working locally or globally.
The opening ceremony will be held on the
afternoon of 8th January followed by the
conference dinner. The scientific sessions will
commence onthe morning of the 9th and will be
followed by the Annual General Meeting of the
ASASL from 3.00 – 5.00 pm. on 10th January.

Abstract Submission Guidelines
Abstracts should not be more than 500 words
describing clearly about the research problem(s),
method(s) employed, findings and conclusions
which can be understood by those outside the
author's area of specialization. Only abstracts
which have not been previously published, and are
not currently under consideration for publication
by another journal are acceptable. The abstract
should be in the following format: (a) Title of
the paper, (b) Author’s name(s) and Institutional
Affiliation(s), (c) Abstract (one paragraph) and
(d) Maximum of four key words.
Each research paper will be blind reviewed by at
least 3 reviewers. The review panel consists of
Sri Lankan experts as well as foreign experts.
