Dear Michael,
the Mac Intel 32bit MEX files shipped with SPM8 have been compiled on:
Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard), gcc 4.0.1 and Matlab 7.4
It is therefore possible (but disappointing) that they are incompatible
with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).
The previous MEX files (provided with SPM5) were compiled by Torben
Lund, but I don't know the details.
Best for you is to recompile the MEX files. To do so, you need to have
installed XCode and run 'make && make install' in the SPM8 src
directory. More details can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/SPM/Installation_on_Mac_OS_(Intel)
or in this mailing list's archive.
Best regards,
Guillaume.
