Hi Anne
Thanks for your feedback. The Graduate Diploma (SCPHN) is aimed at those nurses who already have a degree qualification, and so don't want to do another BSc, but do want to develop their specialist skills in occupational health, without wanting to study at Master's level. The level should read level 6. - so we are aiming to provide a seamless academic escalator that caters for people's needs, so that they can access the courses and leave at the level of their choice.
The advanced diploma students can also extend their studies, if they wish, by doing a few extra modules, to exit with a BSc in Health Studies, and have focused their learning on occupational health throughout the whole of their course. But these students would not hold a SCPHN qualification, and would not have done all of the shared learning with the health visitors, school nurses etc. which suits some applicants better.
The post grads would be encouraged to complete their Masters dissertation and exit with a Masters degree, also having been able to focus on occupational health all the way through their course, if they want to.
I have a leading occupational health nurse from Denmark who will be applying to do the PhD route with me, starting in September.
So we are trying to address the broadest possible spectrum here.
On another topic, we have just had Peter Macaffery appointed as our VC - he was with you at the S. Bank I understand.
Best wishes - have a good summer
Stuart

Looks an interesting progression. I am unsure who the Grad Cert SCPHN is
aimed at. I can identify with the BSc and MSc programmes and NMC validation
but not sure where the Grad Cert fits in.
Best
Anne
