Hi,
I am currently updating our records at Portsmouth on MODES and I am having trouble deciding on Simple names.
Does anyone have ideas for Simple Names for geology items, insects or crustacean? Currently insects and crustacean are 'dried specimen' (along with lots of other random things) and anything geological is 'geology specimen'. Other Name is being used for further classification to beetle, crab or fossil for example and Classified Name is the scientific name. The files also have to be accessible to non-natural scientists.
It would be great to hear what other terms people use or if there is a centralised list of simple names similar to that of SHIC.
Thanks in advance,
Claire Sturman
