Now on-line is the new Web project:
Evolution: A Journal of Nature - History and Downloads
<www.ucl.ac.uk/sts/cain/projects/ejn>
_Evolution: A Journal of Nature_ was published 1927-1938 by a New York-based
group of pro-evolutionists following the 1925 Scopes Trial. The magazine
included commentary on events, resources for teachers, and
reviews/advertisements for supporting materials. It will be of interest to
researchers into the history of creation/evolution tensions in the US,
scientists' engagement with public issues, popular writing on evolution, use
of museum resources (esp. The American Museum of Natural History) on human
evolution, and the relation between some pro-evolutionists and the political
left in interwar America. This magazine is ephemeral; scare in libraries.
The Web project includes free access to:
-downloads of all issues
-gallery of political cartoons published in the serial
-tables of contents, all volumes, sorted by both issue and author
-Endnote X1 file containing all tables of contents
-downloads of bibliographical articles by Cain
