Screenwriting researchers will gather to Helsinki in September. Please book your place to
the conference which is aimed both at researchers of film and audiovisual culture and
practicing screenwriters. Keynote lectures are held by professor Torben Grodal, Univ. of
Copenhagen (Biology and Culture in Storytelling), Dr. Ian Macdonald, Univ. of Leeds (Thin
Air and Solid Ground: Re-thinking Screenwriting Research) and professor David Howard,
Univ. of Southern California (Beginning, Middle and End – Not Necessarily in that Order).
The parallel sessions deal with the questions of screenwriting history, definitions of
authorship, theoretical re-evaluations, expansion of the concept of screenwriting towards
new media forms and changing nature of screenwriting. In addition, there will be two
panel discussions, on education and on practices.
