Hi Anne,
In West Dunbartonshire public libraries, we've issued specific advice to members using public access PCs. See http://bit.ly/wTrJ1 for details. Essentially we issue free alcohol-based keyboard/mouse wipes on request, and encourage users to wash their hands regularly where we have toilet facilities or carry sanitising gel themselves. We have a single poster in each library advising library members of this advice.
In terms of staff we purchased sanitising gel/wash for staff to use as they wish.
Some staff feel that we should be doing more, but I think these are reasonable steps given the guidance available nationally. I think that at this stage, anything more would be over the top.
Regards,
Richard.

Subject: Precautionary swine flu procedures
Several members of library staff have suggested that we need to think
through and activate a precautionary swine-flu policy. Ideas so far range
from providing latex gloves to staff handling money and books at issue desks
to disinfectant hand-rubs at all desks, disinfectant hand wash in
lavatories, notices around the library urging precaution etc. Has any other
library implemented anything like this so far? Is it all "over the top"?
Would be interested to know what people think and what practical steps - if
any - are being taken in libraries. Apologies if this has already been
discussed on the list.
With thanks,
Anne Ambrose
