There are only a few places remaining on the tour of the Burns
Monument Centre located in Kilmarnock on Friday 10th July at 2pm. This
visit is orgainsed by the Information Services Group (Scotland).
The Burns Monument Centre (http://www.burnsmonumentcentre.com/) opened
in March in Kilmarnock's Kay Park. It is a new facility built around
the 1879 statue of Robert Burns by W.G. Stevenson. The Centre provides
a local studies library, archive store and registry office, with a
flexible space for weddings and conferences. It is built in local
stone and is a major addition to services in East Ayrshire. This visit
provides a great opportunity to see how a variety of services can be
integrated successfully.
The Centre is a 10 minute walk from Kilmarnock's bus station and train
station and the nearest local bus stop is on Strawberrybank Road. Car
and disabled parking bays are available. A map can be found at:
http://www.burnsmonumentcentre.com/visit.html.
There is no charge for the event. Booking is essential as there are
only a limited number of places available. Preference will be given to
ISG members.
