Dear Les
One of my students, Tey Song Yuan (Robert), has built a visualisation
tool for blog postings. It could just as easily be used for repository
entries. The widget uses the posting time/date and the Categories to
create a dynamic display of the spread and focus of research topics.
Slider bars (at the bottom) allow you see what has occurred within a
particular time frame. These bars animate when you open the widget to
show you the development of the space over time. Individual posts have
an audio link to their respective categories and to the posts
themselves.
The two examples below show this widget applied to the research blog
of another of my students working with Antarctic data:

or a Landcare site:

Best wishes
Simon
