> 2009 at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, India
> The course is sponsored by the Wellcome Trust as part of its programme
> to support capacity-building for research into the ethical, legal,
> social, cultural and public policy aspects of biomedical research and
> healthcare in developing countries.  You can find out more about this

> Taking as its theme "Sex, Gender and Ethics", the aims of this
> Biomedical Ethics School are to:

> *	Explore some of the ethical and social issues that arise around
> the growing use of reproductive technologies in healthcare;
> intersections between vulnerability in research and healthcare and
> gender; issues around incentivisation and equity in family planning
> and maternal health policy; and the role of the health professional in
> women's healthcare; particularly as they arise in developing
> countries;
> *	Expand awareness of the variety of research methods that can be
> employed in doing research in biomedical ethics; and 
> *	Provide practical advice on grant applications to the Biomedical
> Ethics in Developing Countries funding programme.

> Who is the course designed for?
> 
> Applications are invited from researchers in disciplines relevant to
> biomedical ethics, including (though not restricted to) the following:
> philosophy, social sciences, law, political sciences and theology,
> with a particular interest in the theme of the School.  Applications
> are also invited from established researchers in the biomedical
> sciences and healthcare who wish to move into the field of biomedical
> ethics.

> This course is aimed at researchers in biomedical ethics and related
> disciplines who are based in developing countries.  Priority will be
> given to researchers based in India and other developing countries in
> Asia, though applicants from other developing countries will also be

> What will the course cover?

> As well as plenary sessions delivered by locally and internationally
> recognised speakers on the theme of "Sex, Gender and Ethics", there
