Applications are invited for a Senior Statistician to join the Applied
Quantitative Methods Network, which aims to boost capacity in
quantitative methods amongst the social science community in Scotland.
The post will be based in the School of Law at the University of
Edinburgh, although the successful candidate will work with a
multi-disciplinary team of academics from eight collaborating
Universities. We are looking for a candidate with strong quantitative
research skills, expertise in complex data analysis, good leadership and
management skills, the ability to clearly communicate the techniques
involved in and the results of quantitative methods, and a good track
record in publication. The successful candidate will be involved in
developing and implementing a strategic programme of high quality
quantitative training and knowledge exchange events; providing advice
and guidance on statistical matters; assisting in the development of a
range of teaching materials and resources; and publicising the work of
the Network through a range of dissemination activities.
The closing date for applications is 24th July 2009 and interviews will
be held on 10th August, with a start date as soon as possible
thereafter. Appointment will be made on a fixed term basis on the UE08
