The conference is taking place in Edinburgh from 8-11 September this
year. Invited and contributed sessions will cover topics as diverse as
the census, bayesian computation, longitudinal studies, health, crime,
statistical image analysis, financial risk, climate change,
bioinformatics, statistics in education research and the history of
statistics.
Keynote talks will be given by Sir David Cox, Sir Iain Chalmers, John
Beddington and Stephen Stigler. Other speakers during the conference
will include Sir Michael Scholar, Dame Karen Dunnell, Denise Lievesley
(President ISI) and the Presidents of the American, French, Italian and
Swedish statistical associations.
As well as the formal sessions there is great benefit to be had from
sharing views and experiences with others among the expected 400 plus
delegates coming from all sectors across the UK, and overseas.
You might also like to take advantage of booking on to one of the
courses or workshops held on Monday 7 September before the main
conference opens - these include one-day courses on How to display data
and an Introduction to genetic epidemiology, the Young Statisticians
Training Day, and half-day workshops focussing on Government initiatives
in data sharing and Working with the media. Full details are here:

An exceptional social programme ensures that even outside of the formal
conference there is plenty to do, including the welcome reception - a
unique opportunity to experience Edinburgh Castle at night - the
conference poster reception and Ceilidh and the Society's 175th
Anniversary Dinner at Our Dynamic Earth. And, of course, Edinburgh
itself is also a fascinating city, with both historical and cultural
attractions which can only add to the enjoyment of conference.
The flexible registration scheme allows for attendance for a single day,
a selection of days or for the whole conference. For full details of
registration visit: http://www.rss.org.uk/main.asp?page=3091
