Good afternoon all
We are just in the process of setting up the relevant fields on the new
grade table for this year's HESA and have got a question regarding the
hourly paid academics, which HESA have answered rather vaguely, so am
turning to my Payroll colleagues in the hope that you may be able to help!
Our hourly paid academics are paid an hourly rate that is a derivative
from the rates on the NFA pay structure, and therefore the annual salary
from the NFA is really just a notional figure. I am humming and haa-ing
over whether I should be setting up a grade on the grade table for this
category of staff and linking them on field 33 on the contract table to
their grade. We don't class them as atypical as they have indefinite
contracts, but they also don't really have the concept of an annual
salary, even though they are NFA grade related.
Rather than keep going back to HESA and labouring the point, I thought I
would see what other establishments have done with their hourly paid
Many thanks in anticipation of any advice/guidance that may be offered!
